Graduation Rate Details
One of the main factors to research and consider when assessing a college is their graduation rate. To me, this is the strongest indicator of how well they are doing the job of graduating students, which after educating, is the the second most important characteristic. Before you see this surprising chart, realize that the average four year graduation rate in the U.S. is only 37%. The rate is so low because many students do not get the financial or parental support during college which allows them to continue. Other students see college as a big party or do not transition effectively into the four-year institution.
Generally the better the students the better the graduation rates, but the schools’ policies also have a real effect. So many families make decisions about colleges based on vague knowledge. My focus is to make sure that the statistics are favorable and the right questions have been asked.
